buppitybaby™ was born Spring of 2007, shortly after the
birth of my daughter. In our Hollywood cottage with only hardwood
floors, I could never find a comfortable place for her to hang out
for tummy time, playtime, or simply lounging with mom. Typical blankets
were not thick enough to protect her delicate head and body, and they
bunched up. Playmats were cumbersome and uninspiring. When I realized
nothing in the baby world was comfortable for her, easily transportable,
and also stylish enough to take on the road, I designed the buppity™.
The buppity hit the road and accompanied us throughout Los Angeles.
We traveled in comfort and style to mommy-and-me groups, music classes,
play dates, the park, baby yoga, and everywhere in between! My soft,
easy-to-use carrying strap made it a breeze to take the buppity
everywhere. Always a safe, clean, comfortable place for my little
girl to lounge and play; always in stylish, upscale, and modern fabrics
her mother loves.
To my surprise, the buppity was an immediate hit with other moms
who were desperate for something just like this. I began making buppities
as gifts and then started selling them to my new mommy friends and
to others looking for the perfect, unique baby shower gift. With our
proximity to the entertainment community, buppities were soon
cushioning the play areas of celebrity babies and the homes of Hollywood
moms and dads.
I use only top designer fabrics. The shoulder strap has no hard edges,
buckles, or snaps—just soft cotton fabric easily velcroed
around the rolled buppity.
It has been a blessing that something so inspired by love, and handcrafted
for my wonderful little girl, has allowed me to quit my corporate
job at a Hollywood studio and build a successful business—all while
spending such important quality time with my baby girl. I hope you
enjoy the buppity as much as we do!
